Learn more about our GOLD sponsors for Adopt-a-Family 2022!

We want to highlight ARC Resources, Baytex Energy, Pacific Canbriam and Tourmaline Oil as Closer to Home’s 2022 gold sponsors for the Adopt-a-Family initiative. Each of these amazing sponsors have helped to make vulnerable kids, parents and caregivers’ holiday season a little bit brighter this year by dedicating operational resources towards accomplishing this important initiative.

Closer to Home is incredibly thankful for all the sponsor’s commitment to Adopt-a-Family, supporting over 400 families within the community. We wanted to ask our sponsors a few questions about their experience working with Closer to Home and their involvement with Adopt-a-Family.

Here is what our sponsors had to say about supporting the community and making a difference in the lives of many kids, youth, parents and caregivers this holiday season.

Q: How did ARC learn about Closer to Home and the Adopt-a-Family initiative?

A: ARC said that as the holidays approach, they began to look at what causes they could support for their year-end giving. ARC receives annual emails from Closer to Home, so they were aware of the important work we do. ARC makes it a priority to give back to the communities where we live and work, and Closer to Home’s focus on local, community-based programs – as well as the focus on helping children thrive – aligns with their approach to community investment.

Q: Why did ARC Resources choose to come on board as a sponsor this year?

A: ARC’s purpose is to create a better world for everyone, and we’re fortunate to give back. They appreciate that Closer to Home is local and allows them to invest directly in their communities to create long-term impact. Additionally, one of ARC’s focus areas for community giving is children in need and believe this aligns perfectly with Closer to Home’s vision.

Q: What does it mean to your employees to be a part of this initiative?

A: ARC said that caring about others is a core part of who they are, and their employees are passionate about giving back. ARC’s teams regularly volunteer with and raise funds for local organizations so they can see the impact of their contributions in their communities.

Q: How did you learn about Closer to Home and the Adopt-a-Family initiative?

A: Baytex said a friend brought Closer to Home to their attention and, after further research, found that the Adopt-a-Family initiative needed donors last holiday season. Since then, Closer to Home, and specifically the Adopt-a-Family initiative, has been a program that they want to support.

Q: Why did your company come on board as a sponsor this year?

A: Baytex said they strongly believe they have a responsibility to the communities in which we live and operate and embrace the philosophy of giving back. Closer to Home and the Adopt-a-Family initiative helps ensure that every family feels supported and celebrated during the holiday season. Community Living is one of the pillars of support that their community investment program focuses on, and they feel that Closer to Home emulates this pillar and aligns with their company’s values.

Q: What does it mean to your employees to be part of this initiative?

A: Baytex noted that their employees are actively involved in giving back to the community and are proud to work for a company that also values this. Many of their employees have families of their own and understand the importance of supporting vulnerable families to ensure they are cared for this holiday season.

Q: How did you learn about Closer to Home and the Adopt-a-Family initiative?

A: “We first became aware of the great work Closer to Home does via an employee who had strong ties to the charitable organization. We are proud that our initial involvement has expanded over the years to become what it is today – an annual event that employees look forward to participating. Our involvement with Adopt-a-Family has become close to the hearts of many Pacific Canbriam Energy employees over the years.”

Q: Why did your company come on board as a sponsor this year?

A: Pacific Canbriam Energy has been a proud sponsor of the Closer to Home Adopt-a-Family initiative for several years and said that continuing their local support is important to them as a company. Also, with the holiday season almost upon us, they said now more than ever is a time to come together and provide support where needed most.

Q: What does it mean to your employees to be part of this initiative?

A: “Being able to support local families through contributions that make a real difference in the communities where we live and work means a lot to all of us at Pacific Canbriam Energy.”

Q: How did you find Closer to Home and the Adopt-a-Family initiative?

A: Tourmaline Oil stated that they knew people that had adopted families in previous years, so when looking for suggestions of charities that assisted families, it was a perfect fit.

Q: Why did your company come on board as a sponsor this year?

A: When Covid cancelled their Christmas party in 2020, Tourmaline Oil’s president, Mike Rose, decided they should donate to charities in need with funds they would have used for the annual party. Since then, Tourmaline Oil has continued to donate to the Adopt-a-Family initiative.

Q: What does it mean to your employees to be part of this initiative?

A: “I think I can speak for most of our employees that we are very fortunate to be with Tourmaline, so it was a no-brainer that we would want to share some of that good fortune with those who need it most.  We also had a team adopt some families outside the Tourmaline donation last year. We are thrilled to support an initiative that brightens the holiday season for so many families.”

On behalf of all of us at Closer to Home, we would like to extend a huge thank you to our gold sponsors. We appreciate all your ongoing support in providing local families with the necessary resources during the holiday season. We couldn’t do it without you!
