Summer Camp: Summer in the City

Closer to Home’s Summer in the City day camp serves families experiencing financial barriers, language barriers and who may have limited knowledge of or access to community resources and socio-cultural barriers to community integration.

The camp provides children ages 7-14 with opportunities to learn essential values and life skills, including self-confidence, teamwork, communication, inclusion, discipline, respect, education and fair play.

Summer in the City day camp is an excellent way for kids to form friendships and learn essential life skills. Our Summer in the City gives kids the opportunity to participate in recreation and group activities and also get the chance to go on field trips (past camps have gone to the Calgary Zoo, Glenbow Museum, and so much more).

This is an in-person day camp that runs Monday- Thursday from 9am-3pm & Fridays from 8:30am-1pm in July and August.  Our camp will be located in Northwest Calgary!

*Please note: You must be able to pick up and drop off at specific locations

Registration begins May 6th at the FRN office from 10AM till 3PM!

I had the opportunity to attend SITC summer camp, and it was so much fun! We got to make bracelets, made our rap music, have a talent show, and we learned about Blackfoot culture, our community, nutrition and many other things along with making new friends.
